data on African countries. An internal and external audit of the ECA Statistical Online Platform (ECASTATS) will provide a foundational strategy to improve its
resourcefulness both within and beyond ECA. Tentative claims suggest that both ECA staff and external users of African statistics have had to rely on other sources of statistics in view of gaps with the ECASTATS. Responding to these gaps have become a priority agenda for the Africa Centre for Statistics (ACS) because of the emerging use cases of technology-led statistical products and the Commission’s reputation which hinges on the use of quality statistics for economic transformation. The audit will offer an opportunity to establish baselines on the scope of statistical products based on production and use, and guide the shaping of setting targets in measuring the uptake of statistics on the African continent.
